From George Nakashima by way of the Widdicomb Furniture Company comes this handsome nearly mint coffee table. This beauty is from Nakashima’s Origin Group and is dated 1958. On the face, or front of the table, is a pair of small stacked drawers approximately 3” tall by 10” wide. On the opposite side of the table a long recessed shelf runs the 46”length of this charmer. The narrower or remaining two sides, 32.5”, have no ornamentation, just beautiful finished wood. About 25% of the top is a hinged lid that acts as storage for any number of things. Just two imperfections; a faint 5” scratch that can only be seen in indirect light and a professionally repaired piece of a single foot. Everything else is perfect.
The warm glow of the wood, strong design lines and recognizable legs, not to mention the stamp with his name on the bottom of the table, are a dead give away that this is a wonderful piece from George Nakashima.
