Description

Here for you this beautiful Leroy Neiman colorful print. It is named America’s cup 19th challenge. signed and dated Sept 17, 64.

LeRoy Neiman was an American artist who painted a mix between Pop Art and impressionism. His paintings have vibrant colors. Which he believed he took from life and from the feeling that he got at the moment of experiencing the sporting events and activities from which his paintings derived.

He was published in magazines such as Playboy. LeRoy was born on June 8, 1921 in St. Paul, MN, he went to St. Paul School of Art and then at the Art Institute of Chicago after having served in the US military.

During his life he sometimes performed on television, captivating audiences by drawing or painting portraits live on air.  Neiman died on June 20, 2012 in New York, NY at the age of 91. The prolific and popular artist donated a substantial donation to Columbia University School of the Arts in 1995, which helped to create its LeRoy Neiman Center for Print Studies. Today, the artist’s works are held in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C., and the Indianapolis Museum of Art, among others.

I have 2 prints from his artwork, both of good size and they come framed. This is the larger one of the 2 and it is in great condition. The frame, which btw looks original from the late 70’s early 80’s has a plastic wrapping on the wood which with the passing of time is loose on certain areas.  I love the idea that he painted it on top of a map of Martha’s Vineyard.
