When you find the right piece

Welcome back! I hope you are taking advantage of the 25% off for this spring.

Now to what we came for. We’ve all been there. Scrolling endlessly through online marketplaces, wandering the aisles of furniture stores, flipping through online catalogs until your eyes cross. You’re on the hunt, for that one piece. The one that will finally tie your living room together, the chair that screams “relax,” the lamp that casts the perfect glow. And then, it happens. You see it. That “aha!” moment.

Finding the right furniture or decor is more than just filling a space. It’s about creating a home, a reflection of your personality and style. It’s about finding pieces that speak to you, that make you feel comfortable and inspired. It’s a journey, and sometimes, it can feel like a long one. But when you finally stumble upon that perfect item, it’s pure magic.

Think about it: have you ever walked into a room and just felt it? The energy, the vibe, the way everything just… works? Chances are, the carefully chosen furniture and decor played a huge role. It’s not just about matching colors (though that’s important too!). It’s about finding pieces that complement each other, that tell a story, that create a cohesive and inviting atmosphere.

For me, that “aha!” moment often comes when I least expect it. It might be a vintage find at a flea market, a quirky piece in a local boutique, or even something unexpected in a big box store. The key is to keep your eyes open and be willing to explore. Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone and try something new. My main point here is to tell you that when you find a piece that pulls together all the colors in your room, don’t leave it behind. I recently persuaded my neighbor who is like me and is constantly doing work on the house, but I found this painting that pull together all the colors of his living room, he said he wasn’t sure if he needed it and then I said try it in your room and if you don’t like it no harm done. But a couple of days later he said, you were right, it does pull the entire living room together!

Ha, how about that! So my point is don’t get stuck in the idea that you already have an art piece, or a rug, or a table, whatever the piece is if it pulls all the colors and style of your room together, buy it!

Here are a few things I’ve learned on my own furniture and decor journey that might help you find your “aha!” moment:

  • Know your combination of styles (or at least have a general idea): Are you drawn to mid-century modern? Bohemian chic? Industrial farmhouse? Having a sense of your preferred aesthetic will help you narrow down your search.
  • Measure your space: This is crucial! There’s nothing worse than falling in love with a sofa only to realize it’s too big for your living room. Measure twice, buy once!
  • Don’t be afraid to mix and match: Some of the most interesting spaces are those that blend different styles and eras. Don’t be afraid to pair a vintage chair with a modern lamp or a rustic table with sleek, contemporary artwork.
  • Trust your gut: If you love something, even if it doesn’t perfectly fit your “plan,” go for it! Sometimes, the best design choices are the ones that come from the heart.
  • Be patient: Finding the right pieces takes time. Don’t rush the process. Enjoy the journey and trust that you’ll find what you’re looking for, but when you see it don’t hesitate and buy it.

That feeling when you finally find the piece? It’s worth the wait. It’s the feeling of finally completing a puzzle, of creating a space that truly feels like you. It’s the “aha!” moment that makes all the searching worthwhile. So, keep searching, keep exploring, and trust that your “aha!” moment is just around the corner.
