American of Martinsville is a well known company that has an extensive history and is still producing furniture today. It was founded in 1906 by Virginia tobacco producers. In the 1950s, as the company grew, so did it’s reputation for styling and design leadership. With a variety of designs; the company continued to expand its offerings to cover the living room, dining room occasional and bedroom furniture, in both wood and upholstered furniture.
American of Martinsville’s mid-century furniture is well known for the Danish modern styling and high-quality pieces. These bleached mahogany pieces were produced during the 50’s and 60’s and are some of the rarest of the lines that they manufactured.
This awesome credenza still has the paper tag attached that identifies it as manufactured with Genuine Bleached Mahogany. It is in great vintage condition with minimal wear on the top and legs. It has 6 drawers with a worm wood finish. The middle door has as detail a single great button for handle, as if resembling a Jacky O’s 1950’s-60’s coat. All around the edges there is an overhang to create the illusion of a frame surrounding the cabinet itself. The first drawer on the right side has a silverware tray that you can move back and forward as you need to access the drawer.
The Credenza measures 63” long x 31” high x 21” deep.
This piece is not to be missed!
